There is always a lot of interest in how to conserve the battery on your iPad and iPhone. Check out this article for a suggestion that I had never seen before. Can't say I've tried it out yet to see if it works and how well it works! But, if you do, let me know the results! Click here to find out more! The quick answer is, "Yes you can!".
When you plug in your iPad to a car charger however, you will see the 'Not Charging' message at the top right, which seems to indicate the opposite! However, the iPad should gradually charge - just not very quickly, and perhaps not at all if you are simultaneously using it for something like Maps or Music.

The below article appeared in The Age today, talking about apps that drain your battery and including the below 'top five tips for reducing your IOS batter drain'. It is not about quitting the apps that appear in your multi-tasking bar. One key change to make is to stop certain apps from performing something called 'Background App Refresh'. Go to Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh, and switch any any battery hogs to 'Off'. But be careful to not turn off apps that need to refresh in background in order to give you up-to-date information. For example, I have left on Weather, and my new DataMan app so that they can show up-to-the-minute information. If this is all 'double-dutch', but you need some help to sort out your battery issues, iTea&Coffee can help with your technology issues. Call 1300 885 420. Top five tips to reduce your iOS battery drain (overthought.org):
So, your best bet to ensure that you maximise your battery life is just to check the list of apps that are refreshing in background, and turn off those that don't need to use this feature.
Just be careful about turning off Background App Refresh for those apps that need to be doing 'stuff' even when they are not currently active. If you close an app by dragging it upwards when you are in the task switcher/multitasking view, you will be stopping it from carrying out its background activities (for example such as tracking your location or responding to VoIP calls), until you relaunch it. |
