For most of us, our list of Contacts and our Calendar events are so important - and we don't want to lose them if something goes wrong!
Of course, if you are using iCloud, Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Exchange or some other email service to sync your mail, you do have your Contacts and Calendar always available if something goes wrong with your device.
But what if something goes wrong with that 'cloud-based' set of contacts and calendars. What if you accidentally delete a heap of your contacts or events? They have disappeared from all your devices, but is there a way to retrieve them?
I saw a handy article this week that describes how you can take a backup of your iCloud Contacts and Calendar contents - as an insurance policy if something goes wrong.
But, what if something has already gone wrong with your Contacts of Calendar?
Restoring Google and Outlook Contacts/Calendar
Here are some articles about how to restore this data if you use Google or Outlook accounts:
(If you need instructions for any other type of mail account, I suggest you Google using a search like "restore deleted yahoo contacts", substituting 'yahoo' with your mail provider name.)
Easily restore a range of iCloud data - including Contacts and Calendar
If iCloud is managing this data for you, there is an easy way to restore this information if something goes wrong. You can even restore reminders, notes and bookmarks.
Do you need more information about iCloud?
Apple's description in the above article is quite minimal, but hopefully you can follow it. If not, we have a more comprehensive description of where to find this feature in our brand new edition of the Understanding and Using iCloud guide.
This comprehensive guide to iCloud is now available in the iTandCoffee Online Store as a PDF download (see below). The paperback version has also just arrived at The iTandCoffee Shop - so pop in to grab one, or order it online below.
