Client Anne B has asked whether there is a way to show two apps at once on her iPad screen.
The good news is that there certainly is a way to do this - and to even show three apps at once! Not only that, you can split you Safari and Files apps so that you can work with two windows of the same app.
The iPad provides a couple of ways of seeing more than one app at once. (Note. This only works for certain apps - some do not support the features described below.)
One is Split View, where your screen is split into two sections so that you can view two apps side-by-side. You can then adjust the size of each split if you require, so that you on has a smaller panel than the other. The image above shows such a split view, with a 50-50 split.
Another option is to use the Slide Over feature - where the second apps sits on top of the other app's full screen - as shown below.
We look at how to activate and use Split View and Slide Over in this week's Handy Hint video for iTandCoffee Club users. (Not yet a member? Find out more about The iTandCoffee Club here.)
Some apps can open in more than one window
This 'split view' can also be activated within a couple of apps - Safari and Files - allowing you to quickly split your screen and view two windows of the same app. In files, this can be really helpful if you are doing a bit or moving and re-arranging of files and folders.
We have short tutorials on Split View in Safari and Files, for members of the iTandCoffee Club.
