I know there are several clients who have spoken to me in the past few months about whether to upgrade their current MacBook Pro - and I suggested that it might be worth waiting until Apple releases the M2 version of the MacBook Pro range (as Apple has already releases new MacBook Airs with the latest greatest M2 chip, so it seemed likely they would soon offer the same in the MacBook Pro).
It is frustrating to have just purchased the 'latest', only to find that a new 'latest' arrives just after your purchase.
Normally, new Apple product announcements in the first half of the year occur around March - and this is when I was expecting news of the new MacBook Pros.
But in a break from their normal timing, Apple has announced some new products during the past week - including the new M2 MacBook Pros.
You most likely saw the press announcements this past week about this one! Apple announced some new products on September 8th -
Also announced the upcoming availability of iOS 16 on September 13th - see our separate article on this.
No announcements were made on new model iPads - this is rumoured for October, when Apple will most likely also announce the release of iPadOS 16.
Here is some information about the new products - including pricing and suggestions on what device might be best for you.

Hopefully you have already seen in the press that Apple yesterday rushed through a security patch that they are pushing everyone to install ASAP. It is iOS/iPadOS 14.8. There is also an update for the Apple Watch and Mac.

Here are a couple of articles that provides more details about the new range of products and what older devices will be phased out:
iOS 15 is coming next week
This is the time of year that Apple announces updates to the operating systems for a variety of its products. Here's news on when iOS 15 will be released and what it will contain.
It will be available from on the morning of Tuesday 21st September, Australian time.
At this stage, there is no news of a date for the next major upgrade to the Mac, MacOS 12 Monterey.
Apple launched its latest upgrade to the operating system for our iPhones on Friday September 20th. iOS 13 is now available for all iPhones from iPhone 6s and newer. (iPhone 6, 5 series and 4 series can not be upgraded to iOS 13.)
You will notice that I am only mentioning the iPhones here - as there will be a new separate operating system for iPads, called iPadOS, launched on September 30th (or Oct 1 in Australia).
So, should you upgrade your iPhone to iOS 13 straight away?
The latest range of iPhones - the iPhone 11 series - was announced early this morning (11/9), and pre-orders will open at 10pm this Friday (13/9) - for those who are super-keen to jump on board! The new phones will be available from 20/9.
Read on for more details on Apple's announcement, and for pricing and some advice for those looking to purchase a new iPhone some time soon.

This coming week will see announcement from Apple of the latest (and I'm sure greatest) iPhone range, as well as the launch of the new iOS 13, macOS Catalina and other news.
In the lead-up to these announcements on September 10th (or early morning September 11th Australian time), it would be an excellent time to bring all those Apple devices up to date - so that you have the most recent iOS 12 and macOS version. This then allows you 'hold fire' for a little while on installing the latest operating systems.
We always suggest that it is a good idea to wait for a while so that others can find any teething problems.
The tech world was abuzz this week as Apple announced its new streaming service and more.
The announcements follow news over the preceding fortnight of new iPads (the new iPad Air and iPad mini) and updated AirPods.
Here are Apple's web pages about each of these new iPads:
Just in case you missed it, Apple has announced MORE changes - both to their product lineup, and to the operating systems on Apple devices (iOS and MacOS). If you are thinking of getting a new iPad or Mac, it is worth checking out what has changed before heading for the shops. Here's a summary:
