At iTandCoffee, our strong recommendation to all clients and subscribers is to, wherever possible, set up an extra layer of protection for any online accounts. This extra layer of protection is called two-step-verification or two-factor-authentication.
While this adds a level of comfort when it comes to security of your accounts, it can be annoying to have go and get the code that is sent to you as an SMS, and then enter it as part of the account login process.
I have been regularly making use of a really handy feature of iOS 12 - available on iPad and iPhone. It is a feature that was previously only available to those who had an iPhone 6s or newer, and wasn't previously available at all on the iPad.

One of the frustrations I hear from parents all the time is that they wish they could stop their child from changing the passcode on the child's iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
Not only does it prevent the parent from doing any 'spot checks' of the child's usage of the device, but we regularly deal with situations where the child changes the passcode to keep Mum and Dad out, and then forgets the passcode! This means the device has to be completely wiped, which may result in the loss of photos, app data and more.

What a great group of staff and parents at the Keeping kids safe on iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch workshop, held at Hartwell Primary School last week. Thank to everyone who came along.
We talked about the great new Parental Controls that will be released for Apple mobile devices in September (and lots of other essential information for parents).
We so regularly hear from parents who were left terrified by what they heard at a previous Cybersafety session, but came away from that session not knowing how implement the necessary controls on their child's device/s.
The feedback we get at the end of our workshop is always so positive - that the practical information provided fills the gap left by these other CyberSafety information sessions.
