Several years ago, Apple added a feature to iPhones called Wi-Fi calling - on the iPhone 5c and later.
While this service has been offered by Telcos overseas for years, Australian Telcos have only started providing this feature during the last year - so the feature is relatively new to users in Australia.
The Wi-Fi calling feature allows your iPhone to make and receive phone calls using Wi-Fi when you have limited or no mobile signal. This is great for the many people I know who have poor mobile signal in their own home - even here in the inner 'burbs of Melbourne.
