I do love using iCloud to store and sync my photos. I regularly use Shared Albums to share sets of photos with other family members and friends.
But one thing that has always been lacking has been the ability to share a photo library with your partner (and, perhaps, with other members of your family). I would to be able to share a large number of my photos with my husband without having to create such Shared Albums.
The good news is that sharing of an entire photos library is now provided as an option in iOS/iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura.
We have featured a series of Handy Hints over the past couple of months, about the new features that arrived on our iPhones in September 2022.
This week we feature the last of the set of videos that had been recorded on this topic, covering the some important new settings and features. I particular like those relating to Dictation, Wi-Fi and the 'medications' new feature of the Health app.
Several changes to Notes have arrived with iOS 16.
One of the most significant is the ability to use the Device passcode to lock notes (instead of setting up a separate one). I can't say I'll use this new feature - as I prefer the security of a separate password for my confidential Notes.
There were other changes of Note (pun intended!).
Apple's Mail app finally received some 'love' in September's iOS 16 release for iPhones - with the addition of some of the features that other email apps have included for a while, plus some other useful improvements.
Now, with the release of iPadOS 16 and macOS 13 Ventura on Oct 25 (after already being made available on iPhone in September), these features are also available on the iPhone, iPad AND Mac.

It has been a longer wait than usual for the latest upgrade for iPad. Normally iPad upgrades are released at the same time as the iPhone, but this was not the case in September.
Instead, the release of iPadOS 16 will occur on October 25th (Aus time). Same applies for the latest Mac upgrade, macOS 13 Ventura.
Apple also announced a new set of iPads - providing a significant update to basic iPad, and also updating the iPad Pro.
Below are some articles about these upgrades and the new iPads. And we'll schedule some sessions to look at the new iPad and Mac features in the near future, so keep an eye out for news on this.

Over the next few newsletters, we will be looking at the great new features of iOS 16, which arrived in September.
Last newsletter, we looked at the new Lock Screen and Wallpaper features. In this newsletter, we look at the Photos app - and I know one feature in particular will be very popular with those who love their photos.

Read on for information about our favourite new features in iOS 16.
One of the many features of the new iOS 16 operating system for iPhone is the ability to customise your Lock Screen and set up different Lock Screens.
I didn't think that this would be a feature that I would pay much attention to, but I have found that I really love it. I have created multiple Lock Screens with some favourite photos, and can easily switch between them.
Here's a preview of this feature, and a handy hint tutorial that goes through how to set it up.

I you hadn't already noticed, Apple releases a major upgrade to the 'operating system' that runs everything on our iPhones (called iOS). Around this time of year, they also concurrently release a major upgrade to the operating systems running our iPads (iPadOS) and Macs (macOS).
They will usually also usually announce the imminent arrival of a new iPhone model at this time of year.
In line with this, on September 8th (AEDT), Apple announced that iOS 16 for iPhones will be available on September 13th (AEDT).
(It also announced the next model of iPhones, the iPhone 14 series, and new AirPods and Apple Watches. We talk about in the new product announcements in a separate article.)
Here's why you should not rush into downloading and installing iOS 16 on September 13th (or soon after).
