13/3/2015 0 Comments I have this product and I love it!
eStore (a Mt Waverley online store) has a product on special that can I recommend to anyone who has an iMac (or any other computer for that matter).
It is a desktop organiser that really helps to give you more space on your desk - and that looks pretty nice too! Here is the ad for it from their site for anyone who is interested.

If you share an iTunes account with your family, and in particular your kids, it can be really annoying to have all their games automatically appearing on your device/s! Conversely, you may want the apps you get on one of your devices to also appear on the other. This week's Handy Hint shows you how you can achieve both of these things. It includes both step-by-step instructions and a video - click on the below image to check it out. (Please note that the video shows the iOS 7 Settings. In iOS 8, the iTunes and App Store option appears a bit higher up in the list of options, under iCloud.) This handy hint will be available for viewing until Friday 20th March. After that date, an iTandCoffee Club Membership is required to view hints like this. Join the club today and gain unlimited access to a huge list of great tips about making the most from your iPad, iPhone and Mac. Some examples are shown below. Apple has announced that the price of iPhones will rise by 15% in Australia. This has not yet impacted the main telcos. So, if you are thinking about getting an iPhone, it might be time to jump in before the price rises.
Here is an article about this price rise. Here is a great app for the kids (and maybe the adults as well). ComicBook! for iPad and iPhone allows you to turn photos into 'comics' - which sounds like a lot of fun! I'm thinking this might be a good school holiday activity for my 11yo, combining his technology skills with a bit of creativity! Check out the below link for further information about this app. I like to regularly feature noteworthy YouTube videos on this blog - especially for those of you who do not spend much (or any) time on YouTube. Little videos like these are the reason why YouTube is great vehicle for delivering important messages this one. It is about addiction, of any form. Watch it and you will see what I mean (and please excuse the ad at the start!). Further details of the Apple Watch have finally been announced this week. The Apple Watch will be available from 24/4/15 (although good luck getting anywhere near an Apple Store on that day or thereafter!). You can also pre-order from a bit earlier in April, although I think most of us who are interested in this product would like to be able to see them 'in the flesh' before deciding which model to choose - and how much money we are prepared to outlay! These watches will come in 3 different models, with pricing that varies based on the model and the band that you choose. For us girls, the base 'Sport' model starts at $499; the intermediate model starts at $799. The choice of band can add up to $100 to the price. The larger sized models (for men) add about $80-$100 to the price. The 'Edition' version of the watch starts at a whopping $14,000, and goes as high as $24,000! Wow! The online press has been 'going off' about this new Apple Product. Are you trying to decide if you will get one? Hopefully, the information in this list of articles might help you decide. My jury is still out until I can touch and feel them (and try them on)! Some Online Articles published 10-11th March 2015
Maybe this is one that will only give me a 'so that's how you do it' moment, but I thought I'd share it with you anyway! At the moment, the only way to get the Apple symbol on your iPad and iPhone is to set up a Typing Shortcut. While it may not be something everyone needs on a regular basis, it is certainly something that I find myself needing when I am writing instructions for people who use Macs. Here's what to do.
Now, when you are typing, just type apsym and you will see the apple symbol appear in your list of suggested replacements. Cool!
In the previous article, we looked at putting contact details on a lock screen, so that someone who finds your locked iPhone or iPad can get in contact with you. But, did you know that there is another place that you can record 'contact' details for anyone who finds your locked iPhone, and needs to find out something about you? Perhaps you have had a health issue or an accident, and the person needs to quickly find out 'next of kin' contact information from your iPhone. This is called the Medical ID, an iOS 8 feature which is accessible from the Lock Screen (ie the device does not need to be unlocked to access this information). The Medical ID area also allows you to include information about blood type, whether you are an organ donor, height, weight, etc. This could come in very useful in an emergency. Where can you find this Medical ID
