The different 'Clock' features are shown along the bottom of the screen. Tap the Alarm option (second from left) to view your existing alarms, to set new ones or remove those you don't need. To set a new alarm sound, just change the Sound associated with an existing alarm, or add a new alarm with the required Sound. This will cause all future alarms to use that same sound. Changing an existing alarmTo change an existing alarm, tap Edit at top right to, tap on one of the listed alarm times, tap on Sound, and choose the new Alarm sound The easiest way to add or remove an alarm is using SiriOf course, you can also set new alarms using Siri.
Just say 'Set an alarm for 10am', and Siri will add an alarm for 10am either today or tomorrow (depending on whether it is before or after 10am) and set the Alarm sound to be that which you last set. You can also say 'Set an Alarm for 6:30am each weekday'. Then, to delete that alarm, say 'Delete my 6:30 alarm'. Or 'Delete all alarms' to get rid of all of them.

On your iPad, just go to Settings -> FaceTime, and turn off the option Calls from iPhone. On your Mac, go to FaceTime -> Preferences and look for the same setting in the Settings section. Un-tick it to stop phone calls coming through to your Mac.
28/11/2015 0 Comments What are all those squares I see in Safari on my iPad and iPhone when I tap the Search bar? This question comes up at every iTandCoffee class about Safari. What are those squares that appear when you tap the 'Search or Website Address' bar at the top of the Safari screen on you iPad or iPhone (or even on your Mac). Well, these are your 'Favourite' websites. If you see the set that are shown on in the image here, you may think "They are not my favourites!". 28/11/2015 2 Comments Great ways of adding more storage to your iPad and iPhone - especially when you travelAre you constantly battling a full iPad or iPhone, struggling to free up storage so you can download new apps or take photos and videos? Do you need a way of 'offloading' photos and videos without needing to use a computer or 'the cloud'? Would you perhaps like to take a heap of kids movies away on a holiday to keep them entertained, but don't have room to store them on your iPad and iPhone This was one of the questions raised at the iTandCoffee FREE FRIDAY session on 20/11/15 - how do you create albums on an iPad and iPhone, and how do you then add photos to your album. So, that seems like a great topic for this week's Handy Hint Newsletter. I have put up a couple of short videos that show you all about how to create and manage albums on an iPad and iPhone. They are now available in the iTandCoffee Club Clubhouse for iTandCoffee Club members. If you are not yet a member of The iTandCoffee Club, it only costs $30 year to gain access to great hints, tips and tricks like this, as well as regular free/half-prices sessions, unlimited access to iTandCoffee's Handy Hint library, free videos of classes, slideshows of classes and more. Several clients have asked me recently if I have purchased the new iPad Pro yet. Many have been surprised to hear that I have not.
So, I am yet able to provide any first-hand experience of using the new iPad Pro. I might put it on my list for Santa, but am not sure it is a must-have in my collection of Apple products. I love my Macbook Air, and think I would tend to use that in preference to the iPad Pro. Although, if I were arty, I would certainly be very keen to get one! And I do hear that it is great for editing movies using iMovie, so that might be another 'excuse' I can use to justify the expense one day soon! This week I was asked by a school mum, who needs to purchase iPads for her kids for school use next year, whether I thought it was a good idea to get the kids an iPad Pro each instead of iPad Air or iPad Air 2. Her thinking was that the screens are so much bigger, so would be better to work on for school work than the smaller iPad Air screen. My own 12 year old son needs a new iPad too, so it got me wondering if I should think about purchasing one for him. Apart from the cost being so much higher - and that, in my experience, iPads in school bags and class rooms are very prone to breakage and loss, so don't 'live' very long - I would also be concerned that the larger device is not as portable as the smaller iPads. Part of the reason for schools using iPad is the portability aspect. I would certainly not let my child take the expensive Apple Pencil to school, as I know this would go missing in no time flat! But, there is another good reason to 'hold fire' for now. There are widespread reports of frequent 'crashes' by the new iPad Pro, with no news from Apple about what might be causing this issue and when it might be fixed. I will be waiting to hear that Apple has fixed this issue before considering this next big Apple device purchase for me or my son. 22/11/2015 0 Comments An emoji for every occasion in iOS 9

If you have ever had to delete a large number of photos from your iPad or iPhone, you will know that it can be a tedious process. iOS 9 now offers a much quicker way of selecting multiple photos - much quicker than tapping each and every photo you need. Now, when you are in 'thumbnail' view (in Moments or in an Album), you can go into 'Select' mode (by tapping Select at top right) and then swipe your finger diagonally across multiple rows of photos to select them. Watch the video below to see how it is done. If you, like a visitor this week to iTandCoffee, have the problem of the 'missing trash can' in your Mail app, it is because your mail account has been set up to 'Archive' mail instead of putting it in your 'Trash'. Actually, on that note, have you seen that, in iOS 9, Apple has renamed the Trash mailbox to Rubbish? This has also thrown several iTandCoffee clients. Below are the instructions for changing your Mail account setup (in this case my Gmail account) so that mail is deleted instead of archived. 9/11/2015 0 Comments If you are having trouble with Touch ID since upgrading to iOS 9.1, you are not the only one
When I first got my iPhone 6S Plus, the thing that I noticed straight away was how much better the Touch Sensor on this new device was, compared with my previous iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5S.
Lately, I had certainly noticed that the Touch Sensor on my iPhone 6S Plus seemed to be less reliable - sometimes just not responding at all, but then when I swiped, the screen unlocked without a passcode. I thought it might just be my own device with this issue - but the below article indicates that many others have been finding the same issue since upgrading to iOS 9.1. Have you noticed this problem on your device since upgraded to 9.1? |
