I was with client this week who was suffering from autofill problems with her Safari on the Mac.
Her issue resulted from a 'feature' that arrived on the Mac with Sierra (in 2016), where fields that look like 'name' fields are automatically filled with contact information.
This autofill setting can get in the way on certain web pages and in certain fields that you need to fill in. I too found this feature frustrating when it arrived, so turned it off.
As an example, on my booking and account system websites, there has always been 'autofill' functionality that cleverly fills in the details of clients and suppliers based on information already stored in those two systems. The client/supplier information that it fills in is specific to each system, and is not necessarily stored in my Contacts data.
However, the 'autofill' feature added to MacOS Sierra and iOS 10 enabled the filling in of these fields using my Contacts data instead. This made it hard to get to the built-in autofill details that are displayed by the system I am using, as the Contacts suggestions are displaying on top of the system autofill details. Below shows an example of what happens on my booking system's website.
Luckily, there is a solution if this autofill feature is bothering you.
